Mayflower Monthly
March 2016

February went by so quickly as we prepared for and recuperated from the very successful Dinner and Auction.

Last month at Mayflower Christian School:

In the afternoon PE class, we took on a challenge to see how far we could run collectively. In the month of February, we ran 78.2 miles. Wow!!! This was linked with our science which was learning about the cardiovascular system; how the lungs and heart work together. In art we made paper mache bowls to give to parents, and then moved on to exploring optical illusions.

This month at MCS:

It is exciting that all our Reading with Ace and Christy students have begun to read independently! We are excited for the Art Walk this month on March 19th in downtown Roslyn, where children’s art from the Upper County will be on display. There will also be ‘try-it’ centers. Put this on your calendar for something fun to do with your family.

April afternoon classes:

Tuesday/Thursday: Science: minerals: metals, ores, gemstones. PE: Basics of baseball/ kickball.

Wednesday: Art: basics of sewing on a machine or knitting or crochet

Friday: beginning Ukulele and piano classes

Board meetings are held at 6:30pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, at the School. Meetings are open to the public, and parents are encouraged to attend.

Another way to get “easy money” for Mayflower! If you purchase from AmeriGas, save the bottom half of our bill. These receipts can be turned in for “Community Bucks.”

Don’t forget the other “easy money”: Amazon Smile, Fred Meyer Rewards, Office Depot rewards.

Big Indoor Yard Sale! Time for Spring cleaning. Save those good items for the annual Indoor Yard Sale, May 27 & 28. We will need help setting up the week prior to the sale, and help with the sale. A sign-up will soon be posted at school. Please sign up.

Dinner and Auction was very successful. Thank you to everyone! The net income was $8,631. Please be sure to support and say “thank-you” to the many people and businesses who contributed to the dinner and auction.
